As Firefox 3 is releasing today and it’s aiming for the world record, I came across a very nice Firefox extension that notifies you of your friends’ tweets of Twitter and it is even compatible with Firefox 3 also. It’s TwitterFox which was previously known as TwitterNotifier.
Little about Twitter:
Twitter was born in March 2006 in the beautiful South Park neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Twitter keeps you in touched with your friends no matter where you are with short straight to the point messages. All you need to do if update them and your friends will know your current status.
TwitterFox adds a tiny icon on the status bar that notifies you when your friends update their tweets. Also it has a small text input field to update your tweets.
The features of the latest Version are:
- Fixed an issue of image width when TwitterFox received long unwrap text
- TwitterFox stores last 40 tweets instead of 20 from previous version
- Keep all unread tweets until you read them
- Remove “What are you doing?” string from the text box
- Count down character count instead of count it up
- Don’t count own update as unread
- Don’t count same messages as unread
- Added fi-FI locale
- Fixed CSS warning of xul:box on Firefox 3
- Improved handling of network error
- Improved the behavior of mouse wheel scrolling
- Implemented auto rate control for avoid rate limit exceed
- Get direct message every other access of replies/timeline to avoid rate limit exceed
